Chocolate-Cherry Smoothie
Creamy and smooth with a chocolate undertone, this cherry smoothie is perfect for kids! It’s nutrient packed with cherries, raspberries, avocado, and almond butter, then sweetened with dates.
P.s. Leftover chocolate cherry smoothie makes very creamy popsicles!
We usually use coconut milk with this recipe (canned), but have successfully other milks, dairy or alternative.
This smoothie is also featured in my storybook all about teaching kids to love greens.Β You can learn more here!
Chocolate-Cherry Charger Smoothie
- Prep Time: 5 mins
- Total Time: 5 mins
- Yield: 4 snack size 1x
Description
Delicious and creamy, this dairy free smoothie is a perfect fruity-chocolate snack!
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup canned coconut milk
- 1 & 1/2 cups water
- 2–3 dates
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 – 2 T cocoa (to taste)
- 2 cups frozen cherries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 T almond butter (optional)
Instructions
- Add all non-frozen ingredients to blender and blend well. If your dates are not super soft, soaking them in hot water prior to blending will make them blend much more easily. *Donβt forget to remove the pits! π
- Add the frozen fruit little by little and blend till creamy. Add additional liquid if necessary, depending on the amount of frozen ingredients your blender can handle.
Notes
*If you are going to substitute a dairy milk for the coconut milk, replace part or all of the water as well to keep a creamy consistency.

π Glad you liked it! It’s one of our favourites too!
Yum! Just made these for snack. My one year old loved it! I subbed peanut butter but had to do more cocoa to mask the taste! π
